What is Adult ADHD?
Adult ADHD is nothing but a neurological brain disorder that is presented as persistent pattern of inattention and hyperactivity or impulsion. ADHD is the condition that affects approx 3% to 5% of children of school age and may continue in their adulthood also. Male get affected by the ADHD more than females in childhood.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the childhood development problems. The condition is distinguished by daydreaming, impulsiveness and hyperactivity. It can be continue into adulthood for the children with ADHD.
Adults with ADHD may face various difficulties such as lack of concentration, organizing tasks and completing work within time. There may be related behavior, emotional, vocational, social and academic problems if the difficulties not managed properly.
Person with ADHD may have various difficulties with certain brain activities, mostly in the areas that are responsible for observing the behaviors controlling organization and planning. It may frustrate to the person with ADHD.
Still there are not any proper causes responsible for adult ADHD. However, the risk factors of ADHD may include suspicious behaviors or a childhood diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, issues in pregnancy, family history of ADD, low birth weight and premature birth.
Symptoms of Adult ADHD:
Diagnosis of ADHD is very difficult as it shows similar or common symptoms such as anxious, depression, struggle with procrastination, trouble in concentration and irritability. These symptoms may be of other diseases also. However, it can be find out with the help of persistent adult symptoms and similar childhood symptoms that interfere with relationships and work.
There are three types of symptoms such as inattention symptoms, impulsivity symptom and hyperactivity symptom.
Inattention symptoms: In this symptom, children often go through the conditions such as concentration and organization.
- Organization: Children face the problem of proper organization. They may feel the work place unusually messy and cluttered. There is also misjudgment in arranging the time to complete the tasks. There may be trouble in completing the large projects in time. The person with ADHD often loses or forgets things.
- Concentration: Adults with ADHD always face the problem of concentration at the great degree. They may not be able to finish their tasks or may start numerous tasks without ability to continue. There is great possibility of forgetting and distracting things that you have started, may leads to incomplete work.
Impulsive symptoms: In this symptom, the adult may have trouble to control their desires related to daily tasks.
- Decision making: In this condition, the person with ADHD face the problem of taking sudden decisions or may have trouble to listening others.
- Relating to others: The adult in this condition may have trouble to follow the conservation, answering before the question has been asked, interrupting others etc.
Hyperactivity Symptoms: There may be child bouncing because of pathologic activity that may be different in adults. The person with ADHD may find itself that he or she is becoming bore and irritating easily and experiencing mood swings. They may also feel difficulties to sit and relax and experience nervousness and restless. They may also fail to do quick activities.
