Treatment for Chicken Pox
Chicken pox is not so serious disease if it is treated on time. It can cure completely. It shows pain when the fluid filled blisters are ruptured. Skin rashes and blisters are very itchy due to that patient feel very uncomfortable. There are some good treatment that can make patient relaxed and itch free.
Soothing Baths
Soothing baths is one of the good options to reduce itching. You need to add two cups of oatmeal powder in the lukewarm bath water to get relief from itching. One half to one cup of baking soda is also added to get good results.
Lotions
Calamine lotion is applied on the rashes and blisters to get relief from pain and itch. Lotion makes blister drying faster. After soothing bath calamine lotion is very effective and you will feel more comfortable.
Prevention of other infection
Rashes and blisters are very itchy but if you scratch them other problems can be created. Most of the time there is possibility of bacterial infections and other additional problem can be created. Therefore nails of small children should be trimmed so that it will less harm to blisters and rashes.
Antihistamine
Antihistamine is prescribed by the Doctors. Diphenehydramine and hydroxyzine is available in the market and mostly preferred by the Doctors. These antihistamine causes drowsiness to make patient sleep at night. Chicken pox patient can not sleep at night comfortably.
Acetaminophen
According to age and weight of a patient dose of acetaminophen is given. Patient suffered from chicken pox causes headache, pain and fatigue in muscles. To these patient acetaminophen is given to reduce pain.
Acyclovir This drug is prescribed by the doctor against the viral infection. Mostly it is taken five times in a day. This drug is very useful to reduce formation of new blisters and formed blister can vanish in shorter period. It is very successful when taken after one or two day of infection. Newly born, adults and smokers have more chances of getting complications than other due to weak immune system. For these people IV acyclovir is preferred to cure disease. This drug is prescribed to the AIDS patient suffering from VZV infection.
Other anti-viral drugs
There are some other anti-viral drugs that are recommended by the food and drug administration like valacyclorvir and famciclovir.Chilren or patient should avoid going in the crowd. Antiviral drugs basically act on the DNA polymerase and reverse transcriptase which are required for multiplication of virus. Treating patient by this drug helps to decrease virus multiplication ultimately, it control the disease
Drink
Patient should drink lots of water and fruit juices so that it will cover dehydration of the body.
Avoid Sometime there may be trouble in eating food material. You can offer cold fluids and very soft diet to the patient so that it will not harm his/her mouth if there are rashes inside. Avoid giving fluids containing acids like Pepsi or Coca cola.
