Symptoms of Depression
Depression is a disease which can affect anybody from small children to old persons at any stage of life. Every person feels sad because of personal reasons in life, but how you solve the problem is important. Some people solve it and some becomes depressed when they are not getting any proper solution.
If proper guidance and support is not given to the patient, it can lead to any kind of serious problems. Some people feel like committing suicide. Following are some symptoms shown by the depressed person.
Depress mind
- Person feels very sad and cries many times by remembering the event which makes him/her sad.
- Mostly children shows unstable behavior and get disturbed by small things
- Person does not listen to anybody
Lack of interest and happiness
- The person who is depressed does not like to mix with anyone or show interest in any matter
- If you are trying to make him/her happy, still he/she does not shows any interest
Weight loss
- Depressed person shows gradual loss of appetite
- Some people do not feel hunger and can remain for long period of time
- without food
- Some people just forget to eat or some patients eat only some food
- Depressed patient may think that everybody is forcing him/her to eat food
- For some patients eating food is a very unlikable thing
- The depressed person shows loss of body weight. If child is suffering from depression then it can create problem in the body growth.
Person experiences hopelessness and helplessness
- Often patient shows feelings like there is no hope and nobody will help solve the problem
- Personal view for life changes and the patient mostly thinks negatively
- These kinds of feelings come when the patient does not get expected results or is not happy with the results or sometime some bedridden patients show this kind of feeling.
- These patients lose self confidence and feel like he/she can not do anything in life, they are helpless
Problem in sleeping
- Those who are affected by depression mostly face this common problem of sleeping
- In the night if a person wakes up, he/she may not able to sleep again- this condition is called middle insomnia
- If patient is woken early in the morning, he/she may not able to sleep again-this condition is called as terminal insomnia
- Sometimes seriously affected person can show sleeplessness throughout night called as insomnia
Psychomotor retardation
- The psychomotor activity of the person becomes slow i.e. lowering thinking power
- The patient does not express own thoughts and becomes introvert and along with this the physical activities of the person decrease
- In this condition, the patient needs proper care and should maintain the fluid and food balance. These people find difficulty in doing the regular activities.
Thoughts of suicide
- The depressed person becomes very helpless and hopeless and nobody will help him/her to come out of the difficulty, this kind of feeling frequently comes TO the mind.
- Sometimes, the person can think that suicide or death is the only way out
