Symptoms of Dehydration
Dehydration is loss of fluids from the body. In dehydration amount of body fluid present in the body is not enough to carry out different functions. When person starts dehydrating he/she shows many symptoms some of them are given below
Loss of appetite
In dehydration person does not like to eat anything.
Headache
Many diseases cause headaches. Dehydrated patient also shows constant headache
Blood pressure
- Pressure applied by the blood on the wall of arteries is called as blood pressure. This is one of the important symptoms of the dehydration.
- Blood pressure decreases when blood is carried from the heart to different organs through arteries. Arterioles show low blood pressure.
- When person is suffering from dehydration blood pressure decreases
Dizziness
- Dehydrated person shows inability in perception and experiences vertigo, disequilibrium and lightheadness.
- Vertigo is a feeling of spinning along with nausea and vomiting.
- Dehydrated person is not able to balance his/her own body and falls while walking or doing actions. Person feels very weak and visualizes faint vision
Delirium
- If dehydration is continued without any treatment then it can leads to loss of focusing attention on one point
- This is caused due to problem in the neurons of the cerebral cortex
Skin problem
- Skin becomes dry and loose
- If you take pinch of the skin and it doesn’t come back to its normal position
Constipation
- Sometime patient shows symptoms like constipation
- Patient affected by constipation shows difficulty in passing waste material to outside
- Colon of the large intestine absorbs more water as compared to normal to form hard stool
Thirst
- This is caused when person is suffering from the mild dehydration
- Person feel like to drink for balancing of the fluid in the body
- This causes when concentration of the water falls in the body which gives signal to the brain to drink something.
Urine
- When person suffering from dehydration it causes formation of less volume of urine
- This is caused due to presence of less amount of water in the body
Increase in heart rate
- When concentration of the body fluids falls in the body, it leads to increase in the heart rate as well as respiration rate
- Heart rate and respiration increase to balance decreased volume of the fluid in the body
Nausea
- This is symptom of many diseases sometimes it can be caused due to the side effects of the drugs
- Patient suffering from dehydration also causes nausea
Stop sweating
- In the body of patient less amount of the water is present
- In dehydration condition, the body can not afford to lose the water in the form of sweat therefore body stops sweating
Comma
- If dehydration is not treated on time then it can lead to coma
- Coma is a condition in which person does not receive any response or stimulus from the surrounding
- Most of the time this condition arises when dehydration is untreated
