Symptoms of Colitis Disease

In colitis, colon of the large intestine swells which shows effect on the intestine as well as other parts of the body. The symptoms shown by the disease are as follows.

Symptoms related to intestine

Pain in abdomen

Diarrhea

Bloating and gas

Granuloma

Loss of appetite

Ulcers
Infection by the virus can leads to formation of the open wound or injury in the tissue of the colon called as ulcer.

Symptoms not related to the intestine

Fever
When the disease to its active stage fever can occur in high or low grade. Many times the inflammatory reactions lead to increase in temperature of the body. Many times fever can be seen at night time.

Eye inflammation
Colitis shows swelling in the eyes may be due to the conjunctivitis or uveitis or iritis. Most of the times in ulcerative colitis eyes get affected.

Fissure
The opening of the anus shows small tear leads to pain and bleeding.
