Symptoms of Chicken Pox
Chicken pox is an infectious disease i.e. it can transfer to one other by communication. This disease is caused by Varicella zoster virus. You must have observed that children below 12 are more prone to this disease but adults can also get infection and suffer from more serious effects as compare to children. There are very common and visible symptoms shown by this disease, some of then are describe below.
Symptoms
When person suffers from chicken pox it shows flu like symptoms at initial stage but afterwards symptoms changes. Therefore, symptom shown by chicken pox is different in early stages as compare to later stages.
Symptoms after 24 to 48 hours of infection
- Body ache
At initial stage chicken pox shows symptoms like pain and cramp in muscles. Other body organs also shows pain in stomach, abdomen, most of the joints and head ache. Person feels weakness and fatigue and little fever.
- Tiredness
Tiredness is a common symptom. Person feels very tired and uncomfortable. Because of tiredness he/she can’t sleep well at night also. Tiredness causes due to the fatigue and pain in the body.
- Headache
Headache with cold is one of the important and common symptoms of the chicken pox. Patient feels like he is suffered from flu but very soon rashes develop on the body.
- Fever
Fever is an increase in temperature of the body above the normal body temperature. If accidentally, body got infection from any virus or bacteria then body reacts immediately by increasing temperature so that foreign infectious agent will not survive. Fever is very common for most of the diseases like cold and flu. If patient have mild fever it indicates some changes in the body. You should immediately visit to your doctor.
- Aching in throat
Patient feels very uncomfortable because of inflammation or swelling in the throat.
- Depression
Because of fatigue and pain person feel very uncomfortable. Some time if we take any medicine and if it has some side effects then it can cause malaise.
Effect on appetite
Patient causes decrease in appetite therefore he/she do not eat enough food as usual.
Symptoms after 48 hours of infection.
- Itchy skin
After development of some initial symptoms, other symptom produces are different from flu. After 48 hours, skin develops itchy reddish pink rashes. To begin with rashes develop on the trunk, back and then it spreads to other parts of the body like on face, limbs and neck.
- Blisters
Thin walled blisters are formed on the skin. At the time of formation of blisters fluid is trapped in between two layers of skin. It causes very pain when it breaks. Fluid inside the blisters is very infectious. When normal person comes in contact with fluid it can cause chicken pox.
- Mild fever
Just like in cold chicken pox also causes mild fever.
- Crust
After eight to twelve hours fluid inside the blister becomes cloudy. After breaking of vesicles crust remain on the skin. Blisters blotches are formed on the skin and it can take many years to disappear.
