Skin Allergy Symptoms

If the person is having skin problems such as red, scaly, swollen and itchy skin, then there is skin allergy to them. Such allergies are painful and unpleasant but are curable. Skin allergy shows symptoms such as;

There are various factors or substances that the people get affected by them. Some people are allergic to latex, a substance that often found in balloons and rubber gloves. However, it may be severe with serious latex allergies causing the reaction called as anaphylaxis.

Following are some most common allergic conditions of skin allergy:

  1. Eczema or Atopic Dermatitis: This condition mostly occurs in young children, but may start in young adult and may continue to their adult life. The rashes occurred in this condition are called as Ezema that occurs when the person use to rub the skin. These rashes may occur on cheeks, chest and scalp. However, most of children and adults get rashes in the skin behind the knees and in the skin fold of elbows. It may also occur on the neck, face, feet, hands and back.

  2. Allergic contact dermatitis: The contact of the skin with the substances causing rashes is responsible for this condition. The substances include variety of chemicals including cosmetics, metals, hair dye, dental materials and topical medications. The rashes of contact dermatitis looks like atopic dermatitis. However, the rashes in this condition occur where the skin area comes in the contact with the offending chemicals.

    Some common locations where this type of rashes occurs are hands, feet, eyelids and neck. Contact dermatitis with substances like metals such as jewelry or zippers, buttons, snaps on clothing causes rashes on the neck, waistline, wrists, hands and on earlobes.

  3. Angioedema (swelling) and Urticaria (hives): This condition occurs at any age that causes urticaria, which is also called as hives, an itchy rash. The rash occurs as the red bumps in various sizes and shapes that last for some minutes to hours. The rashes are very itchy that the suffering person use to rub it themselves. Sometimes scratching causes the breaking of skin and bleeding.

    Sometimes there may swelling also that goes along with urticaria known as angioedema involving the body parts such as lips, eyes, feet and hands. However, angioedema does not give any signs of itching and redness of skin but it tends to burn and tingling sensation. Swelling may gives problem to breath that may be dangerous and life threatening also.
