Fungal Sinus Infection
Fungal sinus infection is also known as the fungal sinusitis. Though some of the general sinus infection treatments are applied for fungal sinus infection, but special medicines are available for better treatment of fungal sinusitis. Most of the times, fungal sinusitis is overlooked because of the rare cases of this infection. However, most of the sinus infection cases are treated with antibiotics, but fungal sinus infection may not be treated effectively with these commonly used antibiotics.
Fungal Sinus Infection Symptoms
Fungal sinus infection has the same symptoms like the chronic sinus infection. There are also some other symptoms that make the fungal sinusitis identified. These symptoms include:
- If a person is suffering from fungal sinus infection, then frequent bouts of fever can be experienced by that patient. The patient may feel fever for five days, and after recovering from that fever it may again come.
- Sore throats are also felt by that patient. This cannot be cured permanently that is caused due to the oral thrush. It is also called Candida Esophagitis. This thrush is the direct result of the low immune system. It also causes because of the damage of healthy tissues and blood cells in body due to the over use of antibiotics.
- The patient will feel fatigue and weakness because the energy drops from normal level.
Fungal Sinus Infection Diagnosis
When normal medication do not prove effective for sinus infection, it should be consulted with a specialist. The doctor needs to study the symptoms of that infection and can also take x-ray of the sinuses to identify the problem.
In general sinus infection has symptoms like pains in particular area of nasals, inflammation in the infected parts of nostrils. However, the fungal sinusitis is rarely found, but it is common in some particular parts of the world. Generally, the weakened immune system or worse fungal condition causes fungal sinus infection.
The different types of funguses for instance, Aspergillus and Curvularia causes this fungal sinusitis. The weakened immune system due to the illness and stress contributes to this type of infection.
Patients with fungal sinus infection may have allergy in which a person feels irritation during inhalation. At this time histamines are released that causes inflammation in nostrils. In this case, decongestants and antihistamines can be used as an effective medication. These symptoms help to diagnose the fungal sinus infection.
Fungal Sinus Infection Prevention
Like other sinus infections, fungal sinusitis can be avoided by drinking fluids and reduce the chances of sinus infection. Using decongestant also helps to avoid the condition from being worse. The root cause of sinus infection is the weakened immune system, so one must keep immune system strong and maintain the good health.
