Rashes and Blisters of Chicken Pox
Person suffering from chicken pox shows visible symptoms like rashes and blisters on the skin. Person shows these symptoms stepwise like in the beginning reddish pink rashes will develop then blisters will form and at the end scar formation will take place.
Rashes in chicken pox
- Red pink rashes are first indication of chicken pox. Initially, it looks like insect bite.
- Body temperature of the child will be little high as compare to normal.
- These rashes are very itchy most of the time children scratch these rashes. In such condition patient need medical assessment.
- At this stage patient shows symptoms like fatigue, does not like to eat anything.
- Rashes first formed on the back and trunk then spreads to other parts of the body. Sometime rashes can appear in the eyes, mouth or ears of the patient.
- You can apply anti-viral lotions on the chicken pox rashes so that it will reduce itchiness. Red rashes turn into the blisters after some periods.
Diagnosis
- By observing external features of rash doctor can give treatment
- Infection can be confirmed by observing sample of rash under microscope
Treatment
Different treatments are available that make patient relax and comfortable
- Apply anti-viral lotions on the rashes so that it will reduce itchiness
- Oatmeal bath
- Drink catnip tea to reduce fever
Blisters
- Reddish pink rashes swell and transform in to the blisters after third day of the infection. Blisters are look like small dew drop on a petal of rose.
- Blisters contain fluid. This fluid contains virus, sometimes this fluid can be used for confirmation of the chicken pox.
- Fluid inside the chicken pox blister is highly contagious, if normal person comes in contact with fluid there may be possibility of causing chicken pox.
- After twelve to fourteen hours, blister ruptures and crust is formed on that place.
- Blisters appear in waves or in groups; when first line of blisters begins to disappear immediately second line of blisters starts forming.
- These blisters are very itchy and child feels like to scratch it
- Scratching the blisters can create additional problem, to avoid this trimmed nails of your child and tell him not to scratch blister.
- Emergence of blister varies from person to person, children can get100 to 300 blisters, while adults can have more number of blisters as compare to children.
Diagnosis
To confirm the infection, fluid inside the blisters is observed under microscope, virus can be seen if it is chicken pox blister. To observe the virus, high magnification of microscope is required.
Complications
- Chances of complications are more in adults as compare to the children
- Many time scratching of blisters can leads to the infection of the bacteria
- Bacterial infection can spread to other body organs like lungs and liver through blood flow
- Infection of the chicken from one family member to other could be more severe than from outside infection
