In short, prostate cancer is very slow growing disease in the developed countries and rarely becomes the cause of mortality.
The stage of the cancer at the time of diagnosis plays an important role to affect the survival rates of prostrate cancer. In most of the survival rates of other cancers, the rates are decreased with the patient's age. However, in five year relative survival rates men above 50 years are higher than younger men.
In recent years, the prostate survival rates are improved because of effective treatments and medications. The different methods of treatment are affecting the survival period of patients with prostate cancer.
