Prevention of Dehydration
Dehydration can cause serious problems. Therefore it is better to prevent it. Fluid balance is very important for proper functioning of the body. In your daily routine, if you drink enough fluid then it will be helpful to avoid and cure dehydration. There are different ways through which we can prevent dehydration.
From research, it is proved that problems related to the dehydration can be solved or prevented completely by drinking proper amount of fluids.
Drink
- If you are feeling initial symptoms of dehydration then immediately start drinking more water and oral rehydrating fluids.
- Oral rehydrating fluids and electrolyte will help you in maintaining the balance of fluid in the body.
- Children are more active so they need to drink at least six to eight glasses of water
Environment
- In summer season, the temperature of the environment is higher. To adjust to that our body releases sweat to cool down the body.
- Sweating can cause dehydration if you are not drinking enough water. So drink sufficient amount of water to avoid dehydration
- Not only in summer but in cold temperature if you are wearing insulating clothes then it can also cause sweating
- So, best way drink lot of water and soups which will increase fluid quantity in the body
Exercise
- While exercising or while doing any hard work our body get dehydrated and it can be harmful if you are not drinking enough water
- So drink eight to ten glasses of water of oral rehydration drinks
Avoid
- Caffeine is component of some drinks. Caffeine can affect the formation and release of urine.
- Some person is drinking drinks containing caffeine like colas and coffee then it can cause release of dilute urine leading to dehydration. To avoid dehydration strictly do not drink these drinks.
- Avoid consumption of alcohol which enhances dehydration
- Diet containing more amount of protein can be harmful. The protein diet can increase dehydration rate. If you are having high protein diet then to avoid dehydration drink more water.
- Many people eat more salt in their regular diet it can increase your blood pressure as well as dehydration. So avoid extra consumption of salt.
- If you are not feeling well then avoid heavy work and exercise because both result in dehydration which can create other problems
- Avoid work in direct sun light as it can cause body dehydration fast
- Avoid wearing tight, dark coloured clothes. Your clothes should be loose, light weight and should have more sweat absorbing capacity.
Diet
- Add vegetables and fruits in your regular diet. Both contain more amount of water.
- Children easily get affected by the dehydration so take care of their diet and keep watch weather they are drinking enough water in a day or not.
