Pain During Acid Reflux

Acid reflux shows symptoms such as heartburn and nausea while some people feel chest pain. According to research the chest pain is not related to heart disease while it may cause by acid reflux disease syndrome or GERD.

The nerve fiber gets exited and results in heartburn after back entry of acid reflux in patients with GERD. The pain known as heartburn occurs in middle of the chest and is described as burning pain. The pain may be sharper than that of burning. This pain may mimic heart pain or extend to the back in some patients.

'Heartburn', is very common symptom of acid reflux that may occur after meal. However, heartburn also cause if the individual lie down without effects of gravity. In such condition acid returns to the stomach very slowly. People with GERD losses their sleep because of heartburn.

Seriousness of Acid Reflux Pain

Acid reflux is one of the most identified conditions where gastric juice with acid makes the acid reflux to come back into the stomach and up into the esophagus. Heartburn is not only the symptom that shows presence of acid reflux. Some people experiencing acid reflux have chest pain and so the doctors use to measure the acid levels in the esophagus to detect disease. It is very easy to know the exact reason of chest pain. If people feels burn or chest pain when other acid reflux syndrome are present, doctor conclude that there is acid reflux.

Studies show that about 22 to 66 percent people with chest pain doesn't have any relation with acid reflux. All pains are not related to acid reflux; there are other possible causes also. Some studies show that the heart diseases may cause because of heightened sensitivity of pain in some organs. Researchers have investigated that there may be possibility of chest pain but not by acid reflux syndrome and may be caused by heightened sensitivity to pain in organs.

Some patients' muscles and organs are very sensitive that sends pain signals to brain very quickly. Treatments such as antacids or proton inhibitors are mostly used to treat the acid reflux. However most of people prefer to use herbs, botanicals and other dietary to treat acid reflux. If the medicines succeed to treat acid reflux symptoms then it automatically reduce the chest pains. There are various herbs and botanicals that are used to treat acid reflux and chest pain. It is assumed that acid reflux chest pain can mimic heart pain but also gives burning sensation.

In most cases acid reflux pain is very powerful and is incapacitating. It may affect the quality of life and daily activities. It is very difficult to explain the depth of the pain. However the person having it can feel how it is intense and uncomfortable. Heartburn feeling rises from upper abdomen to neck. Heartburn is the major symptom and having burning feelings that starts from the upper abdomen up towards the neck. Sometimes it is very painful that the sufferer finds difficult to eat, drink and even to walk.

Most of acid reflux pain occurs in chest and upper abdomen and spreads towards the arms and rest of the chest. Acid reflux pain may cause complications including esophageal stricture, erosive esophagitis, esophageal cancer and ulceration or Barretts esophagus. Barretts esophagus is the serious complication of chronic acid reflux syndrome where the changes in the membrane cells of the esophagus happens.
