Bath water
There are some remedies that are added to make patient relax and itch free. Some are described below.
- Oatmeal: Oatmeal is very safe and sound, natural and gives good relief from the itching caused due blisters and rashes. Two cups of oatmeal powder is added into cold bath water.
- Brown vinegar: This is one of the remedy for treating chicken pox. One cup of brown vinegar is added to the water bath. It will relax you from the irritation as well as itching to the skin.
- Ginger: Ginger is also added for reduction of itching caused due to the rashes and blisters.
Sponging baking soda on the body
This is very well known home remedy. Baking soda should be mixed in one glass of water. If the child is sponged with this water, it will helpful in avoiding scratching and erupting blisters.
Honey
Honey is very nutritious if, you apply a thin smear on the surface of the skin it will enhance healing of the blisters and disease can be cured in three or four days.
Carrot and coriander
If you take soup made from carrot and coriander then it will be helpful to treat chicken pox. You can prepare soup, from small pieces of 100gm of carrot and 60 gm of coriander. Filter the soup after little boiling. You can take this soup once in a day.
Tea
You can make tea by boiling different herbals, two are described below which gives very relief from the itching and irritation.
- Herbal Tea: Tea made from the herbs like marigold, chamomile, cinnamon, lemon balm, basil and lemon can be added as a supplementary. Patient can take this tea many times in a day it will helpful to cure the disease.
- Catnip tea: Most of the time in chicken pox the patient causes fever. Catnip tea can be used to reduce fever. It can be prepared from molasses to make tea sweet.
Other drinks:
- Drink
In chicken pox there are chances of dehydration therefore if you drink lot of water and fresh fruit juices definitely it will help to recover dehydration.
- Marigold and witch hazel leaves If you keep two tbs. of marigold flowers and one tbs. of witch hazel leaves in one cup of water over night and apply it on the rashes and blister it will cools and give relief from the itching.
Homeopathic remedies
Some homeopathic remedies are also prescribed to control and cure chicken pox. For example: Antimonium crudum, Pulsatilla, rhus tox and antimonium tartaricum are some homeopathic medicines.
Vitamin E oil
You can apply Vitamin E oil on the rashes and blisters, it will control itching and scar formation will be faster comparatively.
