How HIV infection happens?
HIV infection happens only when one of the people is infected with HIV. There is rumor in people that the HIV infection causes because of only anal sex, which is totally wrong. Concentration of HIV helps to determine whether the infection has happened. Research has given great knowledge regarding to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) through various ways including books, websites, CDs and many other sources but still people are confused about HIV infection and AIDS and reasons behind it.
How it Spread?
Sexual contact is the main reason to transmit or spread the HIV virus. Other factors such as sharing of needles or syringes with infected person, through transfusion by infected blood, through infected mother to her new born child before or during birth. However, the new born child also may get infected through breast feeding.
Infection of HIV viruses is also possible in health care center if the workers have been infected by HIV and infected blood gets into an open cut of the worker or a mucous membrane. There is an example where the six patients affected by HIV through their caretaker. The investigation tells that there are about 22,000 patients of 63 HIV infected physicians, dentists, surgeons that caused to transmit the HIV in United States.
Environment and Transmission:
According to scientists and medical authorities HIV does live alive well in the environment. HIV found in amount of blood, vaginal fluid, semen, breast milk and tears also. These concentrations can be kept alive for days or even weeks in laboratory. However there is no any possibility or even any case that has been identified as infected with HIV getting contact with environmental surface.
Businesses
There is no any possibility or risk of HIV transmission to clients, co-workers, consumers through contact of food service establishments. The other workers such as barbers, hairdressers, massage therapists and cosmetologists must need to use the instruments such as needles, razors, ear piercing devices for once and thoroughly cleaned because the HIV can transmit through these instruments if became contacted with the blood of infected person.
Household:
HIV can be transmit between family members in house hold setting but is very rare case. It may happen if the there is any contact between mucous or skin membrane with infected blood. To avoid this, the person with HIV positive may take some precautions such as wearing gloves during contact with body fluids or blood. The cuts, breaks or sores of both caregiver and patients must be covered. Avoid sharing of toothbrushes, razors etc. Using separate needles for every person of family may also help to avoid transmission of HIV.
Kissing and Biting:
There is no any risk if the kissing was happened through closed mouth or social kissing. The risk of HIV infection during open mouth kissing is very low. However if the there is any crack, sore or cuts in mouth then it may be dangerous and possibility of getting infection of HIV. According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) there may be possibility if the transmission of blood happened during bite, while it is not common way of HIV transmitting because there are various cases that gave negative results in HIV infection through biting.
Insects:
There is fear about the transmission of the virus by the insects but the studies of CDC shows that there is no any possibility of HIV transmission through the insect bite. According to experiment the insect doesn't inject the blood of its own or from the previously bitten animal or person.
Other factors such as Saliva, Tears and Sweat:
The possibility of HIV in saliva and tears found very low or in low quantities examined in some patients suffered by AIDS. The possibility of transmission of the HIV is very low if body itself is having small amount of body fluid. While, there is no any results of transmission of HIV through saliva, sweat and tears.
