This also spread from mother to her child at the time of birth. The period of incubation is 4-25 weeks.

90 percent cases of hepatitis B are acute while remaining ten percent are chronic and developed to liver disease (failure of liver or liver cancer) called as cirrhosis.

Hepatitis C:

Hepatitis C is generally called as non-A, non-B hepatitis and initially it is transmitted through direct contact of the blood via transfusion of blood and contamination of needle. It can transmit rarely through the sexual contact or at the time of birth from mother to her child.

The period of incubation is 5-10 weeks. 25 percent cases of the hepatitis C are acute while other 75 percent cases are chronic and then progress to cirrhosis.

Hepatitis D:

Hepatitis D is generally called as delta hepatitis. This disease is mostly found in intravenous drug users which carries hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis D can be both chronic and acute disease.

Hepatitis E:

Hepatitis E is generally called as epidemic or enteric non-A, non-B hepatitis. Hepatitis E is similar to Hepatitis A but it caused because of different types of viruses from the hepatitis C and is normally found in the area of Indian Ocean. Hepatitis E is measured as an acute condition.

Hepatitis Symptoms:

Extra lab tests like antibody tests such as ELISA II, and RIBA II and the RNA test for hepatitis C using PCR technology for diagnosing hepatitis C.

In some special cases, doctor performs the liver biopsy. In this test small part of the liver is taken for the examination and takes under the microscope.

Treatment of Hepatitis:

For hepatitis A, there is no any specific treatment. The doctor will give advice for the abstinence of alcohol and drugs during the recovery.
