Viral Conjunctivitis

Viral conjunctivitis is related with respiratory tract that causes cold and sore throat. This type of infection can easily be spread to one eye from the other. Generally, this infection remains active for one week.

Viral conjunctivitis is also called "pinkeye". In this case, a light pinkness occurs to the conjunctiva, which can be similar to the iritis' infection. There are also corroborative signs- lymphoid follicles and punctuate keratitis.

The major problem in the treatment of viral conjunctivitis is that no finite treatment is available for to cure it. However, artificial tears and warm compresses may relieve the symptoms of viral conjunctivitis.

Corticosteroid drops also can be helpful in to reduce the severity of symptoms and inflammation in worst cases. In some cases, the over use of corticosteroid drops may result some side effects. There are some antibiotic drops that can be prescribed to manage common infection in such cases.

The precautions need to be taken about viral conjunctivitis are almost similar to the other types of conjunctivitis. For example-

Viral conjunctivitis goes away within a couple of weeks automatically, so usually doctors do not prescribe medicines for the treatment of conjunctivitis. The only most important precaution you need to follow is to control its spread among the family members, as it will easily spreads in family.
