Coffee Allergy Symptoms
Most of people are addicted with this popular drink known as Coffee mostly in United State. You will find coffee houses in many cities across the country. Coffee is very popular and a healthy drink but only for some people. However, it is one of the sources of antioxidants in the diet of Americans.
Some people experience unpleasant symptoms when they have a cup of coffee. The symptoms due to coffee intake are very common as that of other food allergies. People with coffee allergy may experience symptoms such as runny nose, watery eyes, coughing, nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting, digestive trouble, wheezing etc. There may also skin irritation such as rashes because of coffee intake.
Compounds causing reactions:
There are various compounds in coffee that causes different reactions. The compounds are such as;
- Tannins: This compound found in various foods including chocolate, coffee and red wine. Because of tannins in the wine, the condition of read wine headache is occurred. Headache is the most common reaction due to tannins in coffee.
- Caffeine: Caffeine is a common drug found in most of coffee. Some coffees have a huge concentration of caffeine coffee that may cause severe reactions. The person may feel headache, irritability, jitters and insomnia because of too much use of caffeine. There may also difficulty in breathing, skin rashes and swelling. Mostly, higher level of caffeine is responsible for causing allergic reactions.
- Protein: There is 0.3 gm of protein in coffee for per eight ounce cup. However, the allergy with protein present in coffee is rare but once it happens there may be severe symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, tongue, shock and facial swelling.
- Pesticides and Herbicides: Pesticides and herbicides are the compounds, which are used in growing coffee beans. Some coffee brands use huge dose of these compounds in the growing process that lead into giving reactions such as rashes and headache.
How to prevent allergic reactions due to coffee:
Changing diet is the first option to prevent coffee allergy. The changed diet must be included with natural and organic foods. However, this change will not solve the caffeine allergy symptoms but can create platform for this condition to strengthen the immune system.
However, there are many alternatives present in the market that will replace the caffeinated foods and beverages. Some people prefer to drink warm beverage in the morning, which is replaced with soy coffee, chia tea and teeccino. All these options are with free of caffeine. You have another option of doing morning exercise that helps to warm the body and stimulates the brain reproducing the effects of coffee. In later days these beverages can be come in or used in cold conditions also.
Coffee allergy is difficult to diagnose because there is no any proper test that can prove the chemical sensitivity related to caffeine allergies. People have to stop consuming foods and drinks containing caffeine and are the only way to prevent symptoms of coffee allergy. Except this person should have to record adverse feelings if they have while using some certain blankets and wearing certain cloths.
