Chronic Kidney Failure
Chronic kidney failure includes the loss of renal functions for a period of about a year. This condition causes problems in kidney functions that make the symptoms worse. These symptoms can be loss of appetite and fatigue in most of the cases. People who are experiencing problems of diabetes, high blood pressure and people with other kidney diseases are at high risk of getting kidney failure.
Chronic kidney failure Sings and Symptoms
The symptoms of chronic kidney failure cannot be detected until the patient experiences the increased level of protein in the urine. These functions show their existence when the kidney functions decreases:
- Patients with chronic kidney failure experience the increase in blood pressure. This happens because of vasocative hormones, overload of fluids, hypertension and congestive heart failure.
- Uremic frost is considered as a symptom of this disease. When urea is accumulated in blood, body starts to excrete it by sweating. This results into the formation of crystals of urea on skin that can be a sign of kidney failure in some cases.
- Hyperphosphatmia occurs due to the reduced level of phosphate excretion.
- Metabolic acidosis is the result of accumulation of phosphates, sulfates and uric acid.
- Swelling in legs
- Bone fractures and bone pains
- Blood clotting
- Nausea and vomiting
Causes of Chronic Kidney failure
Generally, CKF occurs due to the lack of proper functions in kidney. Following are some of the common causes of chronic kidney failure:
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Urinary stones
- Glomerulonephritis
- Clogging of arteries
- Sickle cell disease
- Use of Analgesics
- Family history of Kidney failure
Stages of Chronic Kidney Failure
Chronic kidney disease can be classified in different stages as per the increase in the symptoms and decrease in kidney functions:
Stage 1 : Kidney functions are slightly diminished in this stage. These damages include the pathologic abnormalities like imaging studies and unusual blood test results.
Stage 2 : The damage in kidney is reduced mildly GFR is reduced in this stage.
Stage 3 : Moderate reduction in GFR is detected at this stage.
Stage 4 : The GFR is severely reduced at this stage.
Stage 5 : The complete kidney failure occurs here and renal replacement therapy is done at this stage.
Treatment for chronic Kidney Failure
Hemodialysis is an effective therapy that manages the functions of kidney after its failure. It helps in filtering the waste products, and extra water and salt from the body. It also controls the
