Children Kidney Infection
Kidney infection in children is also known as the urinary tract infection that occurs in the urethra and by traveling through the urinary tract it leads to the kidney. Generally, children find it difficult to explain the causes and pains occurred by the kidney infection. It affects both kidneys when the reminiscence level of the body slows down and can result the serious damage to the kidney.
In most of the children kidney infection cases, the disease occurs due to infection by bacteria. Bacterial cystitis is an effective element that travels to the kidneys through the bloodstream. There are several other factors that cause the kidney infection in children. These factors include:
- Pneumonia
- Hepatitis
- Kidney stones
- Malaria
- Measles
All these condition contribute in blocking the urine flow. Hence, the bacteria grow in the trapped urinary tract.
Symptoms of kidney Infection in Children
Kidney infection symptoms in children can occur suddenly and can develop with speed. In many cases, children's kidney infection symptoms are ignored by the parents by considering these signs as the general sickness in the children. Some of the common symptoms of kidney infection in children are as follow:
- Frequent Urination in children: Children with kidney infection will experience that they have to use the bathroom frequently more than they usually use. This type of sudden increase in the urination can be caused due to the kidney infection. Hence, the parents need to be careful when they notice their child is experiencing problem in urination.
- Mild Fever: Fever is mostly occurred when the body is suffering from any infection. If a child is suffering from both urination problems and mild fever there are high chances that the child has kidney infection.
- Bed wetting: It is one of the most common symptoms of the kidney infection. This symptom is very indicative in older children, as most of the younger children have this problem as a general sickness.
- Other symptoms: There are some other symptoms of kidney infection:
- Children will feel pains and cramps in abdomen
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Nausea and appetite problems
Diagnosing kidney Infection in Children
Diagnosis of kidney infection in children helps to detect the exact cause of the disease. Generally, the diagnosis process is same to the adults and children. Doctors may use some sample tests to confirm the bacterial infection that causes the kidney infection in children. These tests are performed to check the level of blood, bacteria and pus in the urine. Xrays, CT scans or MRIs are performed in some cases of kidney infection.
Kidney infection in children can occur at any age, and it is very common in girls and boys also. If it is not treated properly at right time, it may cause some serious complications.
