Bronchitis Causes
Bronchitis is mostly diagnosed in the cold season. Generally, viruses, bacteria, infections, smoking, pollution and allergens cause bronchitis. The two types of bronchitis are acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis that have different causes depending on their nature.
Acute Bronchitis Causes
Most of the acute bronchitis cases are the result of the lung infections. These infections can be viral or bacterial. Virus which causes cold can also cause the bronchitis. Sometimes exposure to the allergic elements like tobacco, smog and cleaners can cause bronchitis. It is also noticed that if the stomach acids goes to the food pipe and in the upper airway, it creates inflammation in the lungs.
Chronic Bronchitis Causes
Chronic bronchitis is found in the people who suffer from the cough for more than three months during two consecutive years. In this type of bronchitis, the inflammation and lining remains forever. Generally, pollutants and toxic gases are the major factors that cause chronic bronchitis.
General Causes
- Viral Pathogens: Viral agents cause bronchitis in most of the cases. There are some viral pathogens that include influenza, rhino virus corona virus and adenoviridae virus. The adenoviridae is also responsible for the abdominal pains. However, the common symptoms caused due to the viral pathogens recovers themselves, so no specific treatment is required for viral pathogens.
- Bacterial Pathogens: Bacterial pathogens cause the symptoms that need to be treated. Bordatella parapertussis, Branchamela catarhalis and streptoccus are the common bacteria that cause inflammation of bronchitis. Generally, bacterial pathogens are treated with the help of antibiotics and cough syrup.
- Mycoplasmas: It is an organism that contains the bacterial and viral properties. There are some mycoplasma types: Chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Lengionella. These mycoplasmas can cause severe bronchitis which can be deadly.
- Fungi: Fungi like coccidiodes immitis, histaplasma capsulatum, blastomyces dermatitidis and Candida albicans can cause bronchitis. Bronchitis caused by these fungi has mild symptoms than other types of bronchitis.
- Smoke: Smoking and other factors that has the similar effect like cigarette smoke are considered as risk factors for causing the bronchitis. Tar smoke can also cause inflammation. It builds obstructions inside the bronchi that cause much other illness apart from the bronchitis. Other diseases like pneumonia and cancer are frequently found when these inflammation goes on for long time.
- No-Infectious Factors: Dust, pollens, chemicals and irritant odors are the non-infectious factors that found as the cause of bronchitis. Exposure to these factors is frequently diagnosed in bronchitis cases.
The treatment of bronchitis depends upon its types and causes. The symptoms of the disease vary as per the causes. Hence, diagnosing the causes of bronchitis helps to recommend proper treatment option. Doctors often prescribe the anti-inflammatory medicines which will effectively manages the bronchitis causing factor. Medical treatments are always focused on the specific symptoms that show the exact reason behind the disease.
