Brain Tumor Causes
The exact causes of brain tumor are yet not detected, but there are some risk factors that increase the chances of developing the brain tumors in humans. These risk factors can be genetic or gender based and even exposure to radiation and immune system related problems can cause the brain tumor. However, it is clear that this disease is not contagious and cannot be transferred from one person to another through the infections. Some major risk factors for brain tumor are:
- Male gender
Gender is a major factor that affects the number of patients with brain tumor. Many researches show that brain tumors are mostly found in males than females. - Genetics
Researchers believe that family history of brain tumor plays an important role in increasing the risk of getting this disease.Neurofibromatosis, retinoblastoma and Li-Fraumeni are some genetical conditions that contribute in the chances of developing brain tumors in a person's nervous system. There are rare cases that show the inheritance of these diseases; it can be inherited, but some environmental factors can affect the genetic material. These conditions cause good background for the brain tumors.
- Chemicals Exposure
When people are exposed to the chemicals that affect the genes, the genes become incapable of retraining the tumor from developing in the brain. People, especially working in the oil factories, chemical factories and rubber manufacturing factories are at high risk of getting brain tumor. Workers in the plastic factories are easily exposed to the vinyl chloride that increases the risk of the disease. - Age
Most of the brain tumor cases are detected in the people who are more than 70 years' age. However, brain tumor is very common in the male children. The numbers of children with brain tumors are from the age group between 1-8 years. - Race
Some races are more likely to have brain tumors. The environmental and genetic factors affect together in that condition that result into the more brain tumor cases in a specific race. - Radiation
Research is still going on to detect whether the cell phones and other radioactive elements cause the brain tumors in humans. However, there are very few cases that showed the risk of brain tumors due to the cell phones. Most of the people who suffer from the brain tumors have the risk factors. Although, there are some cases in which the patients with brain tumors don't have any risk factor. These cases can be complicated when the tumor is diagnosed. Hence, people must seek immediate medical consult when they experience any symptoms of the brain tumor.
