Bone Cancer Risk Factors
Doctors have not detected any specific cause for the bone cancer, but the research has determined some risk factors that are generally responsible for the disease. However, bone cancer cannot be transferred from one person to another like other contagious diseases. The risk factors for bone cancer include past chemotherapy treatment, genetics, viral infections or environmental factors. The risk factors cannot cause cancers directly but can increase the chances of bone cancer in humans.

- Genetics : Number of cases show that if the patient belong to a family that has cancer history or a family member with bone cancer, the chances of getting bone cancer increase. Hence, the person needs to take more precautious, as the cancer can easily be inherited through the genetics. Generally, children suffer from hereditary disorders in bones like the bumps and fractures.
- Infections : There are some viruses that can causes cancers in humans. The most common viruses are human papillae virus, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
- Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy : Some patients who have already gone through the chemotherapy and radiotherapy are more likely to have bone cancer. The exposure to the radiation therapy increases the risk of cancer.
- Age facto : When a person gets older, various changes occur in the cells these changes lead to contribute to turn the healthy cells in the bone into the cancerous cells. These changes occur due to the cell division or the cell damage.
- Insecure Sex : The human papillae virus can transfer during the unsafe sex between a cancer affected person and a healthy person. Researchers believe that this process also causes the tonsil cancer in some cases.
- Sun exposure : The ultra violate rays are very effective in causing cancerous cells in the body. Sometime the over exposure to sun causes skin cancer that can also lead to the bone cancer after a specific period.
- Bone Tumors : Primary malignant bone tumors are mostly responsible for bone cancer in children, especially in male children. The osseous bone tumors generally produce the cancer cells. It also includes osteogenic sarcoma and chondrosarcoma. These sarcoma types cause the 60% of malignant tumors in the bones.
In short, doctors always consider the primary tumors responsible for the secondary tumors that are beginning of the bone cancer. These tumors are mostly found in the adult people. Cancer researchers are still trying to find exact causes of the bone cancer.
