What is Bipolar?
Bipolar disarray also called as manic-depressive illness or manic depression. It contains changes in the mood from the highs of the mania up to the lower of chief misery. Bipolar disorder cycles last for the months, weeks or the days if the mood is good or bad.
Bipolar disarray is not like the regular mood swings. It is much powerful and troublesome to the every day activity like it affects on level of activity, level of energy, behavior and the judgment.

- Bipolar I Disarray - Mania and depression:

If you have an episode of manic, the analysis would be altered to Bipolar I Disorder.
- Cyclothymia - Mild and hypomania depression:
Cyclothymia is also known as cyclothymic disorder. Cyclothymia is a type of bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is a like cyclothymia disorder. Cyclothymia disorder consists of cyclical swing mood. Cyclothymia diagnoses many period experience of mild and hypomania depression above two year period span. Because Cyclothymia patient are an increased risk of developing full-blown bipolar disorder
- Rapid Cycling - Frequent episodes of hypomania, mania or depression:
Rapid cycling is a subtype of bipolar disorder. Rapid cycling was characterized by 4 or more than episodes for mania, depression or hypomania in one year. The shifts as of low - high can arise above a matter of hours or days. Rapid cycling normally develops later bipolar disorder course, other than rapid cycling is a temporary condition.
Bipolar symptoms and signs:
Bipolar disarray includes periods of prominent mood or the mania. Some times but not always, this disorder contains the period of depression. In bipolar disorder four types of moods of episodes occurred. Each type is having unique pattern of the bipolar symptoms:
- Mania
- Hypomania
- Depression
- Mixed episode
Bipolar symptoms and signs of the mania:
In this type of bipolar disarray, creativeness, excitement and feelings of sensitive energy are very general. The people who have the experience of episode of manic frequently talk, sleep much little and are agitated. These people also feel like they are unbeatable, powerful, and intended for magnitude.
General symptoms and signs of the mania include:
- Feeling strangely "high" and hopeful or very irritable
- Impracticable, high-flying beliefs about one's power or abilities
- Talking so much rapidly that others unable to keep up
- Feeling extremely energetic after sleeping very little
- Highly distractible, unable to concentrate
- Acting recklessly without thinking about the consequences
- Racing thoughts; jumping quickly from one idea to the next
- Impaired judgment and impulsiveness
- Delusions and hallucinations
Bipolar symptoms and signs of hypomania:
Less harsh type of mania is hypomania. People which are state of hypomanic feel overjoyed, productive and energetic, but the symptoms of these are very milder than that of mania and much less troublesome. Not like the mania people, people suffer from hypomania not suffer from illusions and delusions. These peoples are capable to take with the day-to-day activities. But unluckily the hypomania rises to full-scale mania or followed with depression.
Bipolar symptoms and signs of bipolar depression:
Bipolar disarray's phase of depressive is much like as that of chief depression, though there are some remarkable differences. When it is compared with major depression, bipolar depression is much same as that of low energy. People affected with bipolar depression speak and move slowly and sleep a lot.
General symptoms and signs of bipolar depression include:
- Feeling sad, empty or hopeless
- Physical and mental sluggishness
- Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
- Concentration and memory problems
- Fatigue or loss of energy
- Appetite or weight changes
- Thoughts of death or suicide
- Sleeping too much or too little
- Feelings of self-loathing, shame, or guilt
Bipolar symptoms and signs mixed episode:
Bipolar disorder's mixed episode contains the features of both depression and mania episodes. General signs of episode of mixed contain irritability, campaigning, appetite changes, insomnia, thoughts of suicidal and failure of contact with reality. So because of combination of low energy and high energy mood makes high risk of the suicide.
Treatment of Bipolar Disorder:
In the world several people affected by bipolar disorder. Some people suffer, sever bipolar symptoms such as major depression. Some time children also suffer this disorder. Bipolar disorder is sometime known as manic depression.
Mood stabilizes are well known medication prescribed by doctors for bipolar disorder. Mood stabilizers reduce the depression.
Mania: acute mania is bipolar symptoms disorder. In this case patient require hospitalization to protect others and patient themselves. To controlling mania Lithium is very powerful and effective drug. so many other medications available to control mania including
- olanzipine (Zyprexa)
- clozapine (Clozaril)
- quetiapine(Seroquel)
- risperidone(Risperdal)
- ziprasidone( Geodon)
- aripiprazole(Abilify)
Some drugs are anticonvulsant drugs may also include:
- Lamotrigine (Lamicatal)
- valproate(Depakote)
- oxcarbazepine(trileptal)
Some medications are not approval by FDA and these medications used by clinicians.
Acute depression: depression is bipolar symptoms and Lithium is very powerful drug for depression patient. Some patient due to depression goes for suicide. But due to Lithium drug patient decrease the rate of suicide and only Lithium drug very effective for depression patient. Lamotrigine (Lamictal) is only anticonvulsant treatment for the bipolar disorder. Antidepressant are a treatment part of bipolar depression. So many antidepressants includes such as paroxetine (Paxil), citalopram (Celexa), sertraline (Zoloft), fluoxetine (Prozac). For nerve cells serotonin is effective. So many other antidepressants are available in the market but Lithium is only powerful for major depressive patient as a anti-suicide. Cymbalta and Effexor are two neurotransmitters. For kidney damage treatment chronic lithium is effective treatment.
