Anemia Symptoms
What is Anemia?
Anemia is a condition in which small number of red blood cells circulating in the body. This is mostly occurring in near about 3.5 million of Americans. This is regarded with the red blood cells and occurs due to minimizing hemoglobin in blood cells. Hemoglobin means iron holding tincture of the red blood which carries oxygen from lungs to tissues.
There are different types of anemia and a cause of each anemia is different. For example, anemia is occurred because of poor diet.
For understanding the causes of occurrences of anemia, it is important to understand working of blood. Blood is combination of fluid part (plasma) and the cells and the red color is because of erythrocytes. Normal person has near about five million red cells in the blood and cells contain hemoglobin which holds oxygen. If cells are not able to carry oxygen then anemia occurs.
- This is occurring mostly in menstruating women because iron exhausted monthly
- Red blood cells are produced by the marrow which is in the bones in young children. As the age increases it is created only in ribs, pelvis and spine.
- Life time of red blood cells is in between 90 to 120 days.
- The old blood cells are removed from the body through spleen and liver and iron back to bone to create new cells.
Anemia is occurring because of low red blood cells in the body. It is difficult to cure early. If you suffer from heart related problem and anemia occurs then it is more problematic than the patient only suffer from heart disease. There are no any noticeable anemia symptoms when anemia is mild and take a long time to develop. Some of anemia symptoms and signs are described below:
Following are signs of the anemia:
- Tainted and sticky smelling
- Heart rate increases
- Breathing becomes fast
- Blood pressure becomes low
- Maroon, or visibly bloody stools
- Spleen gets enlarged
- Cold and light skin
- Yellow skin
- Heart mumble
Following are anemis symptoms:
- Tiredness
- Trouble during breathing
- Pains occur in chest
- Pains in Abdominal
- Loss of weight
- Feel weakness
- Lightheadedness
Following are types of anemia:
Iron Deficiency Anemia:
Human body wants iron for creation of hemoglobin which is required for red blood cells. Normally persons require one milligram of iron daily but menstruating women require double than that.
Anemia Symptoms because of iron deficiency are given below:
- Pica condition occurs in which patient hunger for the ice or dirt etc.
- Discomfort of the mouth (that is crack occurs at the corners)
Vitamin Deficiency Anemia:
For creation of hemoglobin, vitamin B-12 is required. Body soaks up this vitamin when chemical is secreted in the stomach. Sometimes human body is not able to absorb this and cause vitamin deficiency. Those who suffer from throat disease, increase the chances of vitamin deficiency. This is mostly occurred in 40 to 80 years persons.
Anemia Symptoms because of vitamin deficiency are given below:
- Sensation of needles or pins in the hands
- Loss of touch sense
- Difficulty occurs during walking.
- Inflexibility of the legs and arms
- Dementia
Hemolytic Anemia:
Hemolytic Anemia occurred because of damage of red blood cells in body. In this case immune system produces antibodies which destroy red blood cells. This conditions sometime connected with lymphoma. Materials like copper, lead and benzene affected to destroy the red blood cells. This disease cans be inherited. Thalassemia and sickle cell disease are inherited kinds of hemolytic anemia.
Sickle Cell Anemia:
This type of anemia is also called as Hemoglobin S disease. This anemia is very serious. Those who are affected of this anemia have sickle shaped cells which are not able press through blood vessels. Because of this disease, people have pain in the joints and some times heart failure can also occur.
Thalassemia:
This type of anemia occurred due to fault occur in genes which produces hemoglobin. Thalassemia minor and thalassemia are two main forms. This is very mild and peoples suffering from this have chances to live full of life.
Aplastic Anemia: Aplastic anemia is very rarely occurred in to people. 3 to 6 peoples suffer from this anemia from million of peoples. This is mostly found in younger. Because of benzene and pesticides, this can be occurred.
Treatment of an anemia:
The treatment for anemia depends on the type and cause of the anemia,
- Iron deficiency anemia - This is treated using ferrous sulphate (iron) primarily taken 3 times in a day. After this if stomach cramps, sickness, vomiting occur, drugs may be taken with some food. This treatment is continued for 3 to 6 months because have to recover fully from iron deficiency. When extreme blood is not present and no any complicating factor occurs then few weeks also necessary for cure. If blood loss is not because of menstruation, then it is stooped by surgery.
- Pernicious anemia, or vitamin B-12 deficiency - This treatment is for long life. Course of treatment includes injections of vitamin B-12. The people suffer from vitamin deficiency anemia; have to take shooting of vitamin B-12, several times in a week first. This treatment is continued for whole life and then one shot is about four times in a year.
- Folic acid deficiency anemia - For prevention of acid deficiency anemia you can take folic acid supplements once in a day.
- Hereditary hemolytic anemia, such as thalassemia - In this case first remove infections and avoid medications which are suppressing the immune system of the body. Person suffers from this need regular transfusion of blood.
- Sickle cell anemia - oxygen, oral and intravenous are first given to patient and pain killer for reducing the pain. Antibiotics are also given. Blood transfusion is required when sickle cell anemia becomes harsh. Bone marrow transplant is also effective in some conditions. Adults suffering from given treated this drug named Hydrea, Droxia etc.
