Acid Reflux Indigestion

Acid reflux is the liquid produced in the oesophagus, which is harmful to the walls of the esophagus. It shows symptoms like burning pain that is called as heartburn. There are various things that may cause to lead or encourage the acid reflux. Some of them are our life style, type of food we are taking, sleeping position, alcohol intake and many more.

Indigestion is nothing but the result of digestive juices, which founds in the stomach backing up.

Factors causing Acid Reflux and Indigestion:

Both the conditions are the result of acid found in the stomach backing up into the esophagus. You may find various reasons that are responsible for causing indigestion and acid reflux. Filling of the belly too full is the most important cause for indigestion and causing acid reflux. Another reason is lying flat while eating. Proteins, fats and calcium in milk inspires the stomach to secrete the acid despite. However, milk is the option that may help to feel good going down.

Symptoms of Indigestion:

You may experience several symptoms of indigestion. Most of people do not know all the symptoms that they use to go through the information provided in books, internet and other sources to find out if some symptoms they have. Below are some symptoms of indigestion:

All the symptoms are very painful and disruptive for the sleep and other normal activities. There may be some other symptoms of indigestion and heartburn. To avoid or get relief from the pain of these symptoms, it is most important to control indigestion rather than taking remedies after affection. Control in indigestion may indirectly improve the quality of health and life.

Ways to relive the symptoms of indigestion:
Change in life style is the main treatment to cure or prevent indigestion and further creation of acid reflux.

  1. Try to eat smaller: Large meals are responsible for expanding the stomach and increasing pressure upward pressure against the esophageal sphincter.
  2. Eat for at least 2 to 3 hours before lie down: Gravity is the factor that helps the stomach juices by backing up into the esophagus. It also helps the flow of digestive juice and food to intestine from the stomach.
  3. Avoid smoking: Nicotine is responsible for relaxing the esophageal sphincter. It also inspires to the production of stomach acid.
  4. Avoid drinking alcohol: Alcohol may also cause acid indigestion and acid reflux because of the content present in it. It increases production of stomach acid and relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Relaxation of stomach causes to swallowing contractions that becomes unreliable. Alcohol may also leads to the development of peptic ulcers. As like these factors, there may be various other severe and unpleasant affects on heartburn sufferers, so it is best to avoid it.
  5. Lift up your head a few inches while sleeping: There may be pressure on the content of the stomach against LES because of lying down flat. You may get relief of it by lifting your head to some inches than stomach while sleeping.
  6. Avoid wearing tight cloths and belts around the waist: Tight fittings around the abdomen may clutch the stomach by forcing food up against the esophagus and ends into food reflux.
